| Director vs other rich media authoring platforms: If you are committed to delivering your project in a web browser, consider Flash. However, there are many advantages to delivery via an internet enabled desktop application. Director is a mature, powerful authoring application that is being supported and enhanced by Adobe. Director allows the author to create multi-window applications that interact with web-based media and databases. This results in a much quicker response for the user and supports direct interaction with the client computer and its file system. The cross-platform compatibility of Director is excellent, and there is a rich library of add-ons using commercial Xtras.
